My full name is Theresa Minhee Lee. Minhee is my middle name and my Korean name. Minhee means brightness and pleasure. I am currently placed at CitySquash in Brooklyn, NY, working with amazing youth and staff members. I have an older brother, Andrew Minho (brightness and goodness) Lee, who has been away in the army for over 5 years now and I’ve grown to love and respect him over time. I have two amazing parents who immigrated from South Korea years before me and my brother were born. Although I myself was born in America, Korean is my first language, and when I forgot Korean after kindergarten, my mom made sure to send me to Korean School for a straight 10 years. My mother always used to say “you might have been born in America, raised in America, be a US citizen, but you will never be seen as an American. You are not what people see as an American but an Asian, a minority.” My hope is to open up more opportunities or raise more awareness about the available resources to my Korean community.
